TOM
Growing up in the shadow of the original Gilley’s Club in Pasadena, Texas, Tom Moore’s musical studies began at an early age. Piano lessons came first, then four years of trombone in the school band before he left them both behind for the drum set. Lessons and gigs of every kind throughout high school led to a stint in the Air Force Band, where Tom gained further experience in many different styles ranging from rock, jazz, country, Latin, and concert band music. During this period he also took lessons from famed New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich (John Scofield, Professor Longhair).

When he finished his enlistment, Tom attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied with jazz drumming legend Joe Hunt (Bill Evans, Stan Getz). After Berklee, he continued private instruction with some of the world’s finest drummers: Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck), Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck, session great), Alan Dawson (Jackie Byard, Dave Brubeck), and the renowned drum teacher Gary Chaffee.

In his drumming career, Tom has had the pleasure of playing with a diverse group of wonderful musicians such as Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Askold Buk (B.B. King, Hugh Masakela), Gene Kurtz (Edgar Winter, Roy Head), blues great Popa Chubby, and guitar hero Gary Hoey.
